I was diagnosed type 2 in late 2014. I am a single mom of two young children. it seems like nothing I do will bring down my sugars. I'm looking for any support groups in Tucson.

what address you doing? diet? exercise? meds? Have you spoken with your doctor about your concerns? I was diagnosed Type 2 less than three years ago. For me, diet and exercise alone were not enough and I had bad effects from oral meds. I have been in insulin since October 2012. But you cannot know what to do by any example... you and your doctor have to figure out what combination works for you. What have you tried so far?

When I hear " nothing works" I think insulin may be a good option. Have you tried? Often bring relief once you see it makes a difference.

All about levels, I'm type 2 with the added complication of COPD and maintain mine with a mixture of Metformin and insulin - mind you it does help to live in a country where healthcare is free :)

If you don't have ins and need insulin, Sams Club and Walmart carry what is basically a generic insulin called Novolin, Novolin R, Novolin N, and a 70/30 mix, they are only $24.98 a vial, where the brand names like Novolog, Humalog, are all brand names and of course that's what the Dr's prescribe.

You also do not need a script from your Dr. Just ask for it at the pharmacy, as long as you know what you need, you may need to find out from your Dr what type you need, like a long lasting or short acting insulin.
