Hi everyone, any advice on... I have had non stop issues with my venous pressures since I was first infiltrated 2 months ago. The arterial is fine. I cannulate myself. A month ago I clotted , lost my blood that treatment and they decided to start heparin. Fast forward to 2 days ago and my venous pressures are pushing 250-300, we lower the flow rate to 350 from my normal 400 and it drops to about 245. Still not happy I put a pillow under the needle and it drops to about 230 throughout the whole treatment. One minute left of treatment and I get a RED 10 alarm meaning air in the venous lines. I check the lines and we see a tiny air bubble but nothing to be concerned. It gets sucked into the pressure pod and we decide to do a recirculation kit. While we flush my needles with saline we look over and all my blood has clotted. We can’t return it and my tech and nurse has NO answers for me as to why it happened. This is the second time! The first time without heparin and I had a fistiogram. Was told there was deep parts and some narrowing. I’m pissed, am about to tell them to send me for another fistiogram. Any answers as to why this happened???? UPDATE: The center has NO idea what happened and cannot provide me with answers. So they are contacting NX Stage to see if any other centers have had this issue. They upped my Heparin to 1500. No issues yesterday when I was on ANOTHER machine.

That's great that you have no issues. I was going to say try moving wing to one side. Hope all is well.

Interesting. Why did you get another machine?

Just to make sure it didn’t happen again and it wasn’t the machine. Turned out to be a fluke. Still not sure why it happened but have not had any issues since then.

This happened to us twice, after we lowered heparin to 5000 units. Went back to 7000 units, no problems since

Also we wait a full 5 minutes after injecting heparin in the line before start, that helps us
