I've been a diabetic for 10 years now. I would recommend a pump for your daughter because with syringes and pens are very uncomfortable too some people and it's a pain too get out and draw the medicine. But with the pump it's very good because you're only changing the sites once every 3 days and not a big hassle. The only thing that you would want to watch with the pump is, if you do not rotate it will lead to bad bruising. And it can get infected. And you don't want that. But as long as you're doing the rotating well. I got mine when I was 7.

My son was diagnosed at 21 months. We started with a pump almost immediately after.. Some doctors have said psychologically (more for the parents of a small child) it is good to wait because it increases your worry.. I think we worry regardless.. And the pump gives you some flexibility with increasing or decreasing basals that long lasting insulin does not.. Its a huge step but once you learn it, it is a good way to manage it. Look for the book called "Pumping Insulin"

my chikd was older but knowing what I know, I would insist on a pump. flat insulin for long range is out so much harder. a pump works closer to what a body does naturally. need more give more need less get less now not tomorrow. My child no longer feeds low all the time. Granted a pump is harder ar first it is worth yhe work if you get the right one for your lifestyle.

Approved of it and we started the pump a few months later. Since your daughter is newly diagnosed they may not let we get on the pump until her blood sugars are in control and she is out of the honeymo
