where people touched by diabetes help each other.

Hi everybody. Well my husband and I just found out we're pregnant. We've been pregnant twice before but miscarried both times. Any advice from moms who had healthy pregnancies despite being t1d?

My doctors told me they didn't want my bs over 100 the whole time and it was very hard but I was determined and disaplined myself and had a very successful pregnancy and I actually had a good one and felt very well most of the time.

My blood sugars could not be over 90 when I was pregnant. You have to be really strict with your diet. It was tough but worth it.

Test your blood sugar often, very often. I had been T1 for about 13 years when I got pregnant. I carried till almost 37 weeks and had an amniocentesis and was induced which after a long labor ended in a C-section. My daughter is now almost 11 and 3 years ago was diagnosed with T1 as well. That's just something to keep in mind, Parent>child is not as common, but not unheard of. It is genetic.

Oh wow! Did either one of you had to use extra insulin? I'm currently on the pump and have been checking my sugars all day and can not seem to get my sugars under 220? I haven't been eating many carbs?

Thank you! I was on novalog and lantus at the time. I was testing ALL THE TIME! I don't remember if my insulin to carb ratio changed or not. But I was defiantly bolusing more frequently for my blood sugars. My sliding scale changed because if needing to stay under 100.
