where people touched by diabetes help each other.

I'm 12 weeks pregnant and on the slender side, I'm having a hard time with my insulin shots because it really hurts me. I try and pinch the skin but there's hardly any fat.

I already have an aversion to needles to begin with, and they keep telling me I'll get the hang of it but it's not getting any easier for me.

I used to be really small and had the same issue. The only spot I could comfortably use was my butt haha so maybe try that?

I'll ask my doc if it's ok to try that area! Thanks!

No problem! What areas do you currently use?

Okay, you can also use your arms, thighs, and upper buttock. How long have you been diabetic?

About the same time I discovered I was pregnant, about 2 weeks ago...

It was such a shock actually. I did my first prenatal visit, they took blood and scheduled me for the second visit in 3 weeks. Then they call me 2 days later saying they need to see me right away because of my type 2 diabetes. And I was like, "excuse me, I have what????"

Ohhh okay! Fairly new. I, personally, am on an insulin pump now but when I was on injections, I couldn't use my stomach for the same reason as you, the pain. And ah, that sucks! I'm type 1 and I feel bad for those who get diagnosed later in life :/ I know the change must be hard.

Oh yes! I felt blindsided, I was super active and eating "relatively" healthy! I do have a sweet tooth but nothing out of the ordinary. I didn't have sweets everyday or anything like that. So when I was told that I had diabetes I couldn't believe it.
