where people touched by diabetes help each other.

I'm type one have been for 15years and I'm on multiple injections a day and I just hate it... I've been into ketoacidosis more times than I wish to count (been at least 7 times) and I've been thinking about asking my nurse to go back onto 2 injections a day. Any other type ones on 2 a day?

2 injections a day? I'm on about 5-9 just trying to keep mine under control! Hope my doctor lets me get a pump!

I went from 2 injections a day to 4 it gave me better control but I have been told to up to 5 I prefer injections as I do not know much about the pumps and I do not think it will be suitable for me as I'm a builder

What type of insulin? Short acting usually is taken with meals to counteract your intake of carbs. Sometimes a long acting insulin is used which lasts up to 16 hours. You need to log the carbs and figure out how many ml/dl a unit of insulin equals how many grams of carbs.

I take 5-8 injections a day until we get my pump figured out. You should talk to your doctor about a pump, it's WAY easier!! :)

I'm on lantus (long acting) and novorapid (short acting) I know how to count carbs etc as been doing it 15years. I wouldn't be able to get a pump as the NHS will only give them out to people who do everything to control their diabetes but doesn't work and mines just because I find it stressful and difficult, when I do my jabs right I can get perfect control most of the time so that would leave me paying for one and I just don't have the money. I don't have anyone that could help either (mum and dad died 2yrs ago and rest of the family are miles away n not well off at all). Plus I'm not sure about having something attached all the time... I know I have diabetes n should be doing what's best for that but the idea of something being attached when I'm out clubbing or whatever spec when I'm wearing a tight dress or something is just off putting to me at 21yrs old, hence thinking of going back to 2 jabs a day (which is what I did as a kid) if they'd allow it... Thanks everyone

there are many solutions to tight dresses and clubbing nowadays with insulin pumps

I had insulin pump since I was 16 and now I'm 31 years old. so I had my fair share of clubbing, partying intimate relationships and even para diving and bungy jumping all done with my insulin pump attached

it just a matter of perspective, and you can actually compare it in some ways to people doing everything with their glasses on. it's a medical device that assist them in day-to-day operations, and they too shouldn't feel different or whatnot when they hang around with their glasses on their face
