where people touched by diabetes help each other.

Support system? My hubby isn't very supportive of this at all.. we are still running test & confirming everything & he keeps acting like this isn't a big deal.. last night I asked him to bring home some nuts I told him it didn't matter what type as long as they aren't honey roasted or mixed with candy.. he brought 2 bags 1 honey roasted & the other a M&M trail mix... I got upset because I can't have it & he told me this is in my head & that there isn't any reason I can't eat them... I'm so frustrated with him.. I have 3 grate uncles who died from complications of diabetes & a close family friend who lost all 10 toes as well as my Dad's first cousin lost his sight... going by my meter numbers I'm probably pre-diabetic & I'm fighting hard to prevent it from getting worse with diet & exercise & hubby acts like I'm waisting my time & this isn't a big deal.. he had opened heart surgery almost 2 years ago & likes to compare everything I'm going through to that but the BIG difference is he had the value replaced & now he's fine I'm long term sick there isn't a magic 1 time fix for me & wile I get heart surgery is huge so is this..

Some people just have no understanding of diabetes and therefore no consideration of the problems we have as diabetics.

My stepdad used to give me heck because I couldn't "predict" a high or a low, hours in advance. His argument was "You know you're a diabetic, so why don't you know when you will be high or low?!" Now he's been diagnosed with type 2 and he needs my help for his numbers. That's the end of trouble from him! Some people just don't get it til they've been there.

He acts like I'm faking or something... we are Muslims & it's Ramadan & in Ramadan we fast (no food or drinks from sun up to sun down for 30 days) I tried this year but I kept getting to sick & on day 4 I got the call from my doctor she said my blood work was alarming (test run 5 days before Ramadan started) & she said she thinks it's diabetes & is sending me to a specialist to confirm (ap is July 5) & my doctor said no fasting this year.. so he's acting like I'm faking to get out of fasting I'm taking my blood sugar 4 times a day & from what I have read online my numbers are pre-diabetic
