where people touched by diabetes help each other.

What's the steps to getting a pump? I have asked my doctor but he denied since I didn't test enough, now I have my life on track and have been testing a lot, just my sugars are under control but just have highs that could be corrected with a pump. As a diabetic, how can I be approved for pump by doc?

Show the doc your sugar log so he sees that you are more "compliant". He will definitely consider you for a pump.

Do my sugars need to be out of range to get a pump or do they have to be well controlled?

They mostly prescribe pumps to either Type-1 or people with very poor control.. readings over 300 or, getting ready for dyalisis.

After plugging my dexcom into the computer, the data said I have been mostly high.

It may be different there but you have to be trying to control it as best you can and are still getting a lot of high glucose readings for no apparent reason

I have been trying very hard to keep them under control , they still go high.

Then I would take a log of your readings and what insulting you're having n when n see what they say if you ask again :-) gotta be worth a try

I just really want a pump! It would be so easier and I have researched for years about which one! Just hope he approves of it! :)

Good luck! I know with CGMs they look for drastic low blood sugar readings. Have you had any trips to ERs or had any ambulance/EMTs called for you? Unfortunately that helps a case. If your MD won't prescribe one, it could be time to find a doc who will help you with what you want for an easier life!
