where people touched by diabetes help each other.

Just a quick question to the type 1 diabetics. How long after a hypo does it take a person to get back to normal. My boyfriend had one 2 weeks ago and I think I'm pushing him a little.

Usually around 15 minutes but it can take even 1 hour

II think it depends how bad the hypo was and also I guess everyone reacts deferent and why do you have to push him? I am sure he can decide when he feels normal

Sometimes I'm back after few minutes and sometimes after about an hour

I just think that I pushed him to do things. It's been two weeks and he is still feeling tired. Could that also be because he has changed his long acting insulin???

Most of the time it takes me about an hour.

It is hard to say without more facts. If he was admitted to hospital and they kept waking him up all night to test levels, I could understand being tired still. Espicially if back to work right away. At the same time it shouldn't be anything a restful weekend wouldn't fix.

How are his levels? Hypos freak me out and I tend to run high for days/weeks to avoid having another one. To recover from one though, it's usually a few hours for me. Most times I over correct and end up high and end up really tired

I've never experienced a low sugar that's effect of tiredness is longer than a day, but it is pretty individual I suppose. Maybe he should check in with the doctor if it's been a couple of weeks? I've never gone more than a couple of days without a low of some kind. He hasn't had another low yet?

There are multiple variables that go into play wen it comes to how long it takes to recover from a hypo episode. Variables differ for all. General rule of thumb to follow is to consume 15 grams of fast acting carbs then recheck glucose in 15 minutes.

I've been taught that if you're under 3 to double your treatment. I run a pump and sometimes I need to turn my basal down/off for a little while to recover
