I take humalog and my sugar will be 280 before a meal 2 to 3 hours my sugar will be as high as 350 so I don't understand it either

I use humalog and it never brings my sugars down like when novolog used to my sugars go as when meter says hi back and it will take 4 hrs at least to get it to 200s which is still not low enough!!! I

Geez, yes. On a pump with it and my readings are all over the place. Sky high at all hours. Before & after meals. Wake up, bedtime...doesn't matter.

I originally used it with my pump, but had issues with it. Switched to Novolog and haven't had an issue since.

It sounds like your ratios are off. insulin action time for Humalog and novalog are almost identical. action time is 4 hours. bg will not go down instantly. peak is at 2 hours. work with your endo to get your basal rate adjusted and then work in i/c at mealtimes. it does not sound like your correction factor is set correctly either. best book I can suggest is Think Like A Pancreas.

if your basal ratio or long acting insulin is not right, you will be high all day.

I was put on Apidra when I started my pump 6 years ago. It has a quicker response time compared to others.

That's why I switched to Novolog, but also because Novolog is cheaper.

I recently switched from Novolog to Humalog because my insurance required it. I don't see any difference in response times.
