where people touched by diabetes help each other.

Hey guys! I've been dealing with retinopathy for 3 years now. It progressed quickly, and now I'm looking at possibly a 3rd vitrectomy. I'd 💕to chat about it, anyone else?

Hi**** I have retinopathy as well. I have scarring at the back of my left eye plus cataracts which need to be removed as I can't even read handwriting at the moment! I've had laser and steroid injections this year

I got "lucky" and did not develop the cataracts after the vitrectomy procedures. My corrected vision is 20/40... I'm scared! My doc said if it gets any worse I can't drive....

hey! I jave retinopathy in my left eye.. had a major bleed in September last year. in March of this year I had a vitrectomy, maximum laser surgery and my retina reattached! how's your a1c?

Can you see now that the retina is reattached? The 2 vitrectomy procedures in my left eye left nerve damage. I'm legally blind in that eye. That's why I'm afraid of a vitrectomy I. The right eye. It's my good eye! A1c is great, it has been under 7 for 3 years. I didn't gave medical insurance from ####-####, I blame many of my complications on the lack of care and supplies.

I can see from that eye yes. it's not as good as before but Its healed really well. my other eye has never had good vision I had a lazy eye when I was a child and it never really did improve much. so it has been some getting used to but it's OK. my a1c is 7.8 it was 9.9 when I had the bleed but I've been slowly bringing it down.

I neglected my diabetes for 3/4 years and smoked cigarettes drank often and used street drugs (extacy, cocaine) I stopped that for 5 years now but I blame my negligence causing my retinopathy. I've done much research snout retinopathy.. I've discovered that we should not change our A1c drastically in a short amount of time. and also avoid lows. it's better to be high and steady then swinging back and forth high to low... did you have s bleed in your other eye

That's good that you have vision in that eye. I'm terrified of going blind. I too blame the terribly uncontrolled years. I've had 4 bleeds in my right eye in the past 2months. However, my doctor wants me to wait on the vitrectomy since it could possibly harm my right eyes vision.

I'm really sorry you are going though this :( it's so scary perhaps the blood will be absorbed by your body and vision will even out. I hate this disease. I wish there was something to do to stop the bleeds

I was diagnosed 4 weeks ago with a A1C of 13.8. My vision completely became blurry then changed from nearsighted to farsighted. Unable to wear my glasses and now it's on it's way back to nearsighted. On insulin & Metformin. Has anyone ever heard of something like this???

when your blood sugars are high for a long time.. ir even short really it causes vision changes like you described.. since your newly diagnosed I would assume your sight will return to your normal soon enough.
