Hi guys, I am a parent of a t1d 12 year old boy in NC. His hormones are going crazy & so is his blood sugar! His AC1 keeps creeping up & I think it's because he is hitting injection sites with scar tissue at school & not getting a full dose. I was wondering if there are any other t1d parents close

My daughter is also experiencing high blood sugars for the last 6 months or so. The doctor says that it's hormones and that she would need more insulin for the next few years than she will need the rest of her life. She takes as much as I do. We have also been having an issue with the portion sizes with school lunches. The menu has the carbs counted and that is what she is going by at school. And her blood sugar is sometime really high 2 hours after lunch. I've been getting calls more frequently from school lately. I want to pack her lunch but she likes hot lunches, but that may be what we resort to if I can't get the cafeteria lined out. But she also is bad about not rotating her sights like she should. So that could defiantly play a role. I was diagnosed at age 10 and until I was about 19, blood sugars were very out of control for the most part.

I am a T1 for 59 years and use the Medtronic pump. I was having extremely hi highs and it turned out I had a lot of scar tissue and the insulin wasn't being absorbed.

Nathan was on the mini-med pump for a year, & he kept playing with it at school & zeroed out his basal rate (slow release insulin) after landing in the hospital twice, we are back on Humalog pens & Lantus.

Hubert, NC
I'm in Hubert, NC but am a type 2 but my body reacts like a type 1. Long story short, it was caused by severe pancreatitis not lifestyle. I inject 5 shots daily and if I don't move spots regularly my numbers will skyrocket. Has he tried injecting in his upper arm or thigh? Or switch sides on his abdomin?

I'm a mom supporting a child with type 1 diabetes.

Hi****I am also from Fayetteville with 11 year old t1 nice to meet you

Puberty will cause a huge increase in insulin needs as the hormones cause resistance. Probably nothing at all your son is doing. I would make changes to increase basal and bolus as needed. Consult your endo if you need help making changes
