I do fast in insulin. I adjust my basal to 50% then take small corrections throughout the day. it really does matter on you and your treatment plan. when I fast, I test frequently to be sure I'm good.

There is no problem with fasting with both types of diabetes. It just requires insulin adjustements. I see more problems with the large meals at night. 😄

You should ask a doctor and he will tell you what to do in ramadan but u can fast it is ok

My daughter fast at times. She is on a pump so she can go the day without food and be fine. She has to eat in the evening if she fast all day. Your body will produce ketones but as Soon as u begin to eat they will go away. Also u have to know there may be times where u have to break the fast to eat due to a low blood sugar. Before the pump she could have never fasted. And we have to get basals set good to prevent lows

Absolutely not! But you have to know what you're doing. Basal insulin doses need to be fine tuned first.

I've tried fasting many times for Yom Kippur never made it the whole way but have friends who have. just a warning if you are fasting and you start to go low you will drop much faster and harder so be careful.

I have done fasts for a couple days. I would say that if you go low take juice and if it gets critical then stop the fast right away. I usually trend high so fasts are perfect for me. They keep my BG target. If you do a smoothie or juice fast you are still getting nutrients.

I'm Muslim & my doctor wrote out a Ramadan game plan... if my BS dropped below 80 I had to brake fast early as long as my BS stayed above 80 I could keep fasting...
