where people touched by diabetes help each other.

I dropped my bottle of insulin at work and it broke. I called Walgreens to see if I could get a refill and was told insurance won't cover it until February 6th. That was my only bottle of insulin.

Oh no!!! Any chance you can purchase it out-of-pocket and have your insurance reimburse you for it in February? I've done that before, when I was going on a long trip and needed to stock up.

When I got stuck on vacation and ran out of insulin (still had a full bottle at home) the pharmacy requested a one time exception and it was approved / covered by bcbs. Maybe ask for head pharmicist.

Walgreen's wouldn't help me. It's very expensive for one bottle. A friend gave me a bottle! =)

If it happens again, call your insurance company and tell them. A lot of times, they an authorize an override and let you fill it again.

This happened to me as well :( I've since found a product called Vial Safe which has thankfully prevented me ever shattering a bottle again. Definitely would recommend it 100%. www.vialsafe.com
