where people touched by diabetes help each other.

Does anybody know why it's so difficult to lose weight being a type 1 diabetic? Something to do with insulin? And how can you make it easier to lose weight?

I gained weight on lantus & than lost weight when I went off it & on the pump. Thougj I'm not really sure if that was all the insulin change or from exercising & eating right again. Probably a bit of b

I've been a type 2 for about 20 years. I'm constantly trying to lose. Insulin works against us, portion control is all but impossible in a world that's normal portions are at least triple what you need, you have to balance what you need to eat to keep your glucose levels reasonable, while fighting all the food cravings, it's a constant balancing act. Keep the faith, work on portions, juice if possible, keep the peanut butter handy for a boost of protein that won't spike your glucose and drink lots of fluids, water's best, soda's are not so good, even the SF kinds. We'll get through in the long run, so hang in there.

Insulin causes people to gain weight/make it harder to lose. As long as you eat right, keep your numbers steady, and stay fit, you'll be perfectly healthy!

I'm a T1D and have had success through portion control and using the MyNetDiary app. It's definitely not an easy thing to do but I was able to lower my insulin levels, reduce my weight, and lower my a1c to 6.5. Now I'm only taking 30-35units a day for both bolus and basal. Hopefully it can work for you too. Good luck.

I'm type 1 and I'm on a strict fitness and diet plan, I seem to lose between 2 and 4 a week! I do sport every other day which keeps my levels just right.
