Hi everyone, any advice on...traveling with pump. I know that you can't put it in the handbag as it will go through the x-ray check. Do you carry it in your hands through the security check?

I've worn a pump over 5 years and while I haven't let it go through the x-ray machine in my purse, I have walked through the walk-in one for people. no issues. I have heard that it actually won't hurt at all to go through x-ray. check with manufacturer.

I leave it attached and ask to be patted down. They check it while still attached, then check your hands to make sure you don't have any explosive powder/residue on your them. You can also detach it (put a cover on the cannula) and put it in a small black dish and ask for only the pump to be checked by hand. This is better/faster if you are "pre-approved" and aren't required to take off your belt and shoes when going through the X-ray.

We don't take any chances. We hand it to TSA staff to walk it around the detectors and X-ray machines.

Oh, be sure and disconnect when taking off and landing so gravity forces don't give you an unexpected overflow of insulin.

Yes. They check it by hand by looking at it and wiping it for explosives.

Disconnect 1st, place pump in small bowl (the one they use for spare change, etc), hand bowl around (not through) metal detector, once you clear metal detector they will examine pump as others have said before, then ur on your way.

If they are using the other type of body sensor that blows the air at you while your hands are above your head stay connected to pump. They will see it on the scan and ask to see it, and probably test hands for explosive residue.
