where people touched by diabetes help each other.

Hi everyone, any advice on choosing insurance that's better for diabetes supplies coverage? I don't currently have the option to get insurance through an employer right now but thankfully should be able to afford something at this point. I've had good experiences with anthem and medical mutual through employers in the past but really don't know much about what's out there! Thank you!

I have medical mutual and they have been very good. They also have programs where they will pay for insulin, devices, strips etc if you sign up

I had cigna and I swear it felt like they did everything they possibly could to make anyone who has diabetes financially suffer. they literally covered nothing... that was when I was thankful for having extra supplies :) I have Blue Cross Blue Shield Excellus now and they are seriously pro diabetes... I feel like they literally cover everything... and if not it's like a $15 Co pay. but of course all plans within the carriers vary too. I hope you are able to find an affordable good plan that works well for you :)

We had great experiences with blue cross blue shield and horrible ones with Cigna. Wish I would have asked the question like you!!

Do not go with United Health Care, UMR, or OptumRX for that matter and definitely no on Cigna.

Everyone covers different things. For example unh only covers Medtronic pumps. You need to find the company that covers the particular supplies that you need
